Last year, I took two online classes as part of the Certificate in Modern Women Series at Florida University Online.
In the second class, I was introduced to the art of public speaking through a video featuring a man named London and a woman from New York who has lived in Houston for three years and works as a paralegal. This was a crucial part of my academic journey, as effective communication is a key skill in the modern world.
Unfortunately, I found it difficult to concentrate during this part of the video. The woman’s accent and her unique style of speaking, which I found amusing, became a distraction. I recall her using profanity when she left the London Lambo or the Bambo SUV after London did not give her $1000 as a charity gift. This distraction ultimately led to my poor performance in the course.
Receiving an ‘F’ in the final exam and the course, and being suspended from school for two years, was a turning point for me. It was a wake-up call that led to significant personal growth and learning.
