Grant, however, issued General Order No. 11 in December 1862, which expelled all Jewish residents from his military district, encompassing parts of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Kentucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This order was a result of Grant&#8217;s frustration with the black market cotton trade and his belief that Jewish traders were the main culprits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ulysses S.
